Getting to Central Oregon

  • Redmond/Bend International Airport

Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) is just 25 minutes from downtown Bend, and is known for its ease and efficiency. The airport is small and easy to navigate, with minimal walking distances and security lines that are typically short or nonexistent. Most travelers are through the airport quickly, making arrivals and departures refreshingly low-stress.

It’s easy to get ground transportation to Bend, so if you prefer not to rent a car, this would be your option.

  • Eugene Airport

Eugene Airport (EUG) is about a 130-mile drive to Bend, typically 2.5 to 3 hours by car depending on conditions. The route travels east over the Santiam Pass, offering beautiful scenery. Eugene is a solid alternative airport with broader flight options.

  • Portland International Airport

Portland International Airport (PDX) is approximately 160 miles from Bend, with a typical 3 to 3.5 hour drive depending on traffic. PDX offers the widest range of direct flights and is a good option for travelers comfortable with a longer drive to Central Oregon, who want to have a rental car while in Bend.

There can be a bit of traffic through Portland and surrounding areas, but you’ll forget about it after the drive through the mountains!

  • Road Tripping

Gather your friends and pups, it’s time for a road trip! Driving from Seattle to Bend is roughly 330 miles and typically takes 6 to 7 hours, depending on traffic and route. The drive crosses the Cascade Mountains and offers classic Pacific Northwest scenery before opening into Central Oregon’s high desert.

Wherever you’re coming from, the the drive will take you out of the I-5 corridor and into some strange and beautiful volcanic, high desert and mountain landscape. A great way to truly enjoy the journey!
