With the arrival of QT Breast Imaging in Oregon, Perk Imaging is introducing an FDA-cleared imaging system that provides detailed 3D breast images without compression, radiation, or contrast agents.
If you've ever delayed a mammogram appointment because of discomfort, or simply wished there were additional options available to learn more about your breast health, this is technology I'm honored to help share. Not marketing here; I'm speaking as a woman with a chronic condition who, like many of us, has struggled to find providers who combine scientific expertise with genuine compassion and patient-centered care.
How Is QT Breast Imaging Different from Traditional Ultrasound?
Many women are familiar with ultrasound as a tool used to evaluate a specific area of concern within the breast. QT Breast Imaging uses ultrasound technology in a different way.
During a QT Breast Imaging exam, the breast is comfortably immersed in warm water while the system captures thousands of ultrasound measurements from multiple angles. These measurements are used to create detailed, true 3D images of the breast without compression, radiation, or contrast agents.
Unlike a traditional handheld ultrasound, which is typically performed by a sonographer and focused on specific areas, QT Breast Imaging uses an automated imaging process designed to create a detailed 3D representation of breast tissue. The examination is interpreted by a board-certified radiologist trained in QT Breast Imaging.
Results are provided to patients and may also be shared with their healthcare provider to support ongoing breast health care.
The exam typically takes about 20 minutes and is designed to provide a comfortable imaging experience without breast compression.

It is not represented as a replacement for mammography, physician evaluation, diagnostic imaging, or other guideline-recommended breast cancer screening.
